Located on the most coveted stretch of California coastline, this home for an art collector has been carefully designed to open to dramatic views of Catalina Island while simultaneously blending into the bluff-top site from public vantage-points above.

Situated at the confluence of two ravines, the home is designed as a series of bars or boxes that nest into and step up the hillside, starting with the pool/ photovoltaic array, then living spaces, a bedroom block, and finally the art gallery and primary suite.

The exposed structural frame, with careful detailing for thermal and weather exposure, supports an expansive green roof planted to blend roof and site to mask the structure below.
