Constructed in 1949, the original structure was the first building set on the bluffs overlooking the Malibu Pier, Surf Rider Beach, and the Malibu Lagoon.  The renovation and addition aimed to maintain and respect the existing lines while thoroughly modernizing the layout, structure, and spaces throughout – including raising the ceilings/ roof, strategically placed modest additions, and dramatically expanded areas of window and pocketing door openings.

Natural stone and wood materials add a warmth to the modern expression, highlighting the international style structure’s horizontal lines.

Carefully planned and executed construction techniques protected the established landscape to provide protected and private indoor/ outdoor spaces with unobstructed views of the coast line and Catalina Island.
